Attendee FAQ

1. Where is the event located?
The event is located at the Hyatt Regency in New Orleans, LA.

2. Is there a registration deadline?
There is not a registration deadline, but we encourage you to register early so you do not miss important information that will be emailed to all attendees.

3. What is your cancellation policy?
If you must cancel for any reason please notify us via email at events AT linuxfoundation.org. Refunds will only be issued for cancellations received at least 3 weeks prior to the first day of the event and may take up to 14 days to process. Please note that all refunds are subject to a 3% processing fee.

4. Is this event open to anyone to attend?
Yes, this is a conference celebrating and exploring the open source projects, technologies and companies who make up the cloud and is open to all who are interested in attending.

5. May I substitute someone else, if I am unable to attend?
If you are unable to attend, you can substitute another attendee in lieu of cancellation this event.  To substitute an attendee, you may return to the registration form and click “View or Change Your Existing Registration”. Once you’ve entered your email address and password, you may edit your registration with the new attendee's information.  Utilizing this feature will also allow you to re-issue yourself a receipt and/or confirmation should you need it.  

6. May I bring guests?
Many participants will be traveling from afar and may want to travel with companions not attending the event. There will be opportunities to purchase additional guest tickets to the evening events on the registration form, though guests will not be allowed in the conference sessions. 

7. Are there any discounts for Linux Foundation Individual Members?
Yes, please contact us at events@linuxfoundation.org to receive your discount code.

8. How can I get my company to send me to CloudOpen North America 2013?
You can tell them that the education available at the conference will advance your knowledge without costing them much money. This is the best and most cost effective way to learn about Linux and the open source projects, products and companies that are driving the cloud and big data ecosystems today.

9. How can I retrieve a copy of my receipt?
A link will be on your confirmation email; in the email click on the section that reads "View Your Invoice". Next, under "Actions" you can select either: "Print Receipt" or "Email Receipt". If you do not have your confirmation email any longer, you can also access your registration details by returning to the registration form and clicking “View or Change Your Existing Registration”. Once you login and access your registration details, simply click on "Print Receipt" located under "Documents".

10. Where should I stay?
We have a room block at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans for US$199/night. Please refer to our Hotel page for more information on how to book your room.

11. When do you recommend I arrive and depart?
If you are coming from out of town, we recommend you plan to arrive by Sunday, September 15 so you don’t miss any of the sessions that start on Monday morning. There will be an all attendee reception following the conference on Wednesday evening, so if you would plan to attend we recommend leaving late Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

12. What can I expect in terms of the weather in New Orleans and how should I plan for attire?
September in New Orleans is still fairly hot and humid, with average high temperatures around 86 degrees, average lows around 71 degrees, and humidity levels ranging from mildly to highly humid. Rain is likely to occur during the conference, so be sure to bring an umbrella and/or rain jacket.  Check out weather.com for the most up to date information.

The attire for the event is business casual. Plan to dress in layers, to ensure you are warm or cool enough for the weather/meeting rooms.

13. Are meals included?
Continental breakfast and coffee breaks are included on all conference days. There will be plenty of options for purchasing lunches onsite at the Hyatt.

14. What can I expect in terms of the evening events?
We will be onsite reception for attendees on Monday, September 16.  Complimentary hors d'oeuvres and beverages (beer, wine and soft drinks) will be served, and attendees will have the chance to visit the sponsor booths. On Tuesday, September 17 there will be a VIP reception for conference speakers and sponsors. We will also be holding an offsite Closing Reception for all attendees on Wednesday, September 18 where dinner and drinks will be provided.

15. Does Linux Foundation have a anti-harassment/anti-discrimination policy for their events?
Yes, it's important for us that people feel welcome. Please read and abide by our simple yet friendly policy.

16. How can I sponsor CloudOpen North America 2013?

17. Do you have exhibiting opportunities at CloudOpen North America 2013? 
Yes, CloudOpen North America includes a Technology Showcase where companies can showcase a product or technology.  As it is our goal to keep each Technology Showcase at a small, exclusive size, opportunities are only available to event sponsors. Please contact us for information.

18. Are there any training opportunities at CloudOpen North America 2013?
Yes! We are offering 2 special short course trainings in parallel with CloudOpen North America. Please click here for dates/times and more information about the courses.

19. Do you provide visa invitation letters for this event?
Absolutely! After you have registered for CloudOpen North America 2013, please complete the visa invitation letter request form. Once the form has been completed, we will email you a pdf copy of your visa invitation letter within 24 hours.

20. I need funding to attend CloudOpen North America 2013- are you able to help with this?
If you are a Linux community member who can not get funding from your employer and need to pay for your own travel to attend this conference, please fill out the Travel Fund request form. Once the form has been completed, we will review your request and will let you know within 10 business days if you request has been approved.
