1. Where is the event located?
The event is located at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers in downtown Chicago.
2. Is there a registration deadline?
There is not a registration deadline, but we encourage you to register early so you do not miss important information that will be emailed to all attendees.
3. What is your cancellation policy?
If you must cancel for any reason please notify us via email at events AT linuxfoundation.org. Refunds will only be issued for cancellations received at least 3 weeks prior to the first day of the event and may take up to 14 days to process. Please note that all refunds are subject to a 3% processing fee.
4. Is this event open to anyone to attend?
Yes, this is the conference for all matters Linux and is open to all.
5. May I substitute someone else, if I am unable to attend?
If you are unable to attend, you can substitute another attendee in lieu of cancellation this event. To substitute an attendee, you may return to the registration form and click “View or Change Your Existing Registration”. Once you’ve entered your email address and password, you may edit your registration with the new attendee's information. Utilizing this feature will also allow you to re-issue yourself a receipt and/or confirmation should you need it.
6. May I bring guests?
Many participants will be traveling from afar and may want to travel with companions not attending the event. There will be opportunities to purchase additional guest tickets to the evening events, though guests will not be allowed in the conference sessions. 7. Are there any discounts for Linux Foundation Individual Members?

8. How can I get my company to send me to LinuxCon North America 2014?
You can tell them that the education available at the conference will advance your knowledge without costing them much money. This is the best and most cost effective way to learn about Linux through top notch speaking talent, innovative and abundant program content, and connecting with peers. 9. How can I retrieve a copy of my receipt?
A link will be on your confirmation email; in the email click on the section that reads "View Your Invoice". Next, under "Actions" you can select either: "Print Receipt" or "Email Receipt". If you do not have your confirmation email any longer, you can also access your registration details by returning to the registration form and clicking “View or Change Your Existing Registration”. Once you login and access your registration details, simply click on "Print Receipt" located under "Documents".

11. When do you recommend I arrive and depart?
If you are coming from out of town, we recommend you plan to arrive by Tuesday, August 19 so you don’t miss any of the sessions that start on Wednesday morning. Sessions will not end until Friday, August 22 at 5:00pm so we recommend leaving on Saturday. For those delegates attending the VIP Reception (speakers, media and select sponsors), this will take place the evening of Tuesday, August 19 so we do recommend arriving before 4pm in order to attend.
12. What can I expect in terms of the weather in Chicago and how should I plan for attire?
August in Chicago is fairly hot and humid, with average high temperatures around 86 degrees, average lows around 71 degrees, and humidity levels ranging from mildly to highly humid. Rain is likely to occur during the conference, so be sure to bring an umbrella and/or rain jacket. Check out weather.com for the most up to date information.
The attire for the event is business casual. Plan to dress in layers, to ensure you are warm or cool enough for the weather/meeting rooms.
13. Are meals included?
Continental breakfast and coffee breaks are included on all conference days, and for the first time this year, lunch is included as well!
14. What can I expect in terms of the evening events?
The Attendee Welcome Reception will take place at the Museum of Science & Industry on Wednesday evening, with the onsite booth crawl & happy hour on Thursday evening. For those attending the VIP reception, that will take place Tuesday evening (before the conference begins) as will the First Timers reception.
15. Does Linux Foundation have a anti-harassment/anti-discrimination policy for their events?

17. Do you have exhibiting opportunities at LinuxCon North America 2014?
Yes, LinuxCon North America includes a Technology Showcase where companies can showcase a product or technology. As it is our goal to keep each Technology Showcase at a small, exclusive size, opportunities are only available to event sponsors. Please contact us for information.
18. What are the different registration options?
In addition to the Full Conference Pass, new this year is the Networking Pass, which allows attendees to go to all keynotes, social events and visit the Technology Showcase - everything except the conference sessions. For more information on these options, as well as student and media registration, please visit our Register page.
19. Do you provide visa invitation letters for this event?
Absolutely! After you have registered for LinuxCon North America 2014, please complete the visa invitation letter request form. Once the form has been completed, we will email you a pdf copy of your visa invitation letter within 24 hours.
20. I need funding to attend LinuxCon North America 2014- are you able to help with this?
If you are a Linux community member who can not get funding from your employer and need to pay for your own travel to attend this conference, please fill out the Travel Fund request form. Once the form has been completed, we will review your request and will let you know within 10 business days if you request has been approved.
