About Dublin

We are excited to welcome you to LinuxCon + CloudOpen + Embedded Linux Conference Europe 2015 in Dublin, Ireland!

This year's event is being held at the state of the art CCD, Convention Centre Dublin. Located on the River Liffey in Dublin's Docklands, the finance and technology hub of the city, the CCD is ideally positioned for LinuxCon attendees.

Famous for its easygoing charm and cultural heritage, the Irish capital of Dublin is also the capital of The Craic (pronounced "crack"), the art of life. The city is steeped in rich history, starting with the Vikings laying its first streets.  An unruly artistic streak, thanks to greats like Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and Jonathan Swift, and The Craic have helped shape Dublin into what it is today.

Top 5 Things to Do in Dublin

  1. Visit Dublin Zoo- See many rare and exotic animals living and roaming in a wide variety of natural habitats. Dublin Zoo, located in Phoenix Park in the heart of the city, allows you to discover amazing animals and beautiful scenery.

  2. Stroll through St. Patrick's Cathedral- Built between 1220 and 1260, the Cathedral is one of the few buildings left from the medieval city of Dublin. Today, St. Patrick's is the National Cathedral for the Church of Ireland and is still the largest cathedral in Ireland.

  3. Learn at the Science Gallery at Trinity College- Dublin's Science Gallery is a world first. The collision of science and art is the key DNA strand of this International success story. Unlike most galleries, there is no permanent exhibit here so there is always something new to explore.

  4. Enjoy the Farmleigh House- Built in the late 18th century, Farmleigh was purchased by Edward Cecil Guinness in 1873. The house contains many beautiful features including the Main House, the Sunken Garden, the Walled Garden, the famous Clock Tower and the Lake.

  5. Have a drink at the Old Jameson Distillery- Relive the story of John Jameson and Son through the history, the atmosphere and above all, the taste. Discover how water, barley, and yeast are transformed into the smooth golden spirit that has always been and continues to be Jameson Irish Whiskey. Jameson has extended a 10% discount on tour fees to conference attendees with their name badges. For afternoon tours, plan to book ahead of time and arrive on-site early as they tend to sell out!

You CAN get across Dublin without passing a pub! In Ulysses, James Joyce (a Dublin native) mused that "a good puzzle would be to cross Dublin without passing a pub" and now you can.
