Kids Day Schedule
9:00am – 12:00pm: Leap into Linux: Learn How to Do Your First Operating System Install
Have you ever wondered how your computer works or how it has the software it has? Or have you wondered how it's possible to play a computer game with your friends across town? You'll have a chance to learn these things and more in this workshop where you will install a flavor of Linux along with games and applications such as MineCraft, Scratch, Tux Type, and Tux Math. You will also learn how networking works and how people get access to content such as Wikipedia and Khan Academy when they don't have Internet. Join us for an afternoon of fun and learning as we Leap into Linux!
12:00 – 1:00pm: Lunch Break
1:00pm – 5:00pm: Robotics Inventions Using Arduino
An Arduino is a micro-controller, a small computer used as the brain of the robot which can be programmed to control the way lights, motors and other electronic parts interact. You will have a chance to learn about Arduino by trying out making an LED light light up and blink, and come up with some ideas for how you could use an Arduino in future projects of your own.
