Learn Game Development with goose and Godot
Taught by Kaitlyn Hornbuckle
Did you know you can use goose to create fun custom games with a free and open source game engine called Godot? Join Kaitlyn in exploring fundamental 3D game design techniques with the help of artificial intelligence. Attendees learn how to leverage prompt engineering skills to create 3D scenes, build and execute GDScripts, trigger custom events with collisions, and integrate an interactive story that brings the game to life. As a bonus, prototype, techniques, and online safety tips are sprinkled in!
Bio: Kaitlyn Hornbuckle is a computer science and digital communication arts student at Oregon State University. Since 2018, she’s taught game design and 3D modeling workshops across meetups, conferences, and edtech spaces. She’s worked with tools like Roblox, Minecraft, Blender, and Godot, and is passionate about gamifying education to empower learners.
Learn AI by Making Robots Dance!
Taught by Cassandra Chin
What if you could talk to a robot and watch it bring your ideas to life? In this hands-on workshop, kids will team up with goose and mBot2 robots via MCP to explore how AI can understand instructions and help make things happen in the real world. Through playful challenges, they’ll learn how to ask AI clear questions, give better directions, and try again when things don’t go as planned. Along the way, kids will build confidence in experimenting, problem-solving, and turning their imagination into action. No previous experience with AI or robots is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play, explore, and create!
Bio: Cassandra Chin is a keynote speaker, author, podcast host, and computer science student. She has led technology workshops for kids at international conferences since age 13 and is passionate about expanding access to tech education for women, minorities, and underserved communities.
