Scholarships

Scholarships

The Dan Kohn Scholarship Fund exists to support individuals who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend. Cloud Native Computing Foundation is pleased to offer three types of scholarships; Diversity, Need-Based, and Maintainer Scholarships. Individuals who apply should be active members of the open source community who are unable to attend for financial reasons and are unable to receive funding from their companies.

Diversity Scholarships

Applicants must be from traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized groups in the technology and/or open source communities who are unable to attend without some financial assistance. Including, but not limited to persons identifying as LGBTQIA+, women, persons of color, and/or persons with disabilities.

Need-based Scholarships

Need-based scholarships are for members of the community who may be unable to attend due to lack of funding, and do not work for a company that has the ability to fund your attendance.

Maintainer Scholarships

Applicants should be active CNCF project maintainers who are not being assisted or sponsored by a company or organization, and are unable to attend for financial reasons.

Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of need and impact. Selection will be made by an assembled group of reviewers who will assess each applicant’s request. Application information will be kept confidential.

Scholarship recipients will receive a complimentary pass to attend CloudNativeSecurityCon North America 2023 in Seattle, WA, and up to a max of $1,500 USD to reimburse actual travel expenses. Please note that reimbursements are made after the event, and the stipend may only be used for the following: coach airfare, hotel/accommodations (up to 3 nights), and transportation to and from the airport.

Receipt of a scholarship does not, on its own, guarantee entry to the event.
