General Information

What is the date and time of the conference?

Embedded Linux Conference + OpenIoT Summit Europe will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland October 22 -24, 2018. For more information, visit the Schedule page.

Where is the conference located?

Embedded Linux Conference + OpenIoT Summit Europe will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, The Exchange, Edinburgh, EH3 8EE, Scotland. Visit the Venue & Travel page for more information.

How do I get to the conference?

Is parking available? How much is parking and do you validate?

Where do I pick up my name badge?

Bring your registration confirmation to the registration desk located in Strathblane Hall.

Registration Hours:
Schedule & Registration Hours will be posted mid-August.

Name badges must be worn at all times and cannot be shared with other attendees.

What is the recommended attire?

Business casual attire is recommended.

Will there be coat or luggage check available?

Yes.  Coat check will be available in the Level -1 Cloakroom.

What meals are provided with my conference registration?

All Event Days:

  • Continental Breakfast, AM Breaks, and PM Breaks will be offered for all conference attendees

Monday & Tuesday Evenings:

  • Reception-Style Evening Events include light snacks and beverages

Please note, lunch is not included.  Local area lunch maps will be available at the Registration Desk.

I have a dietary restriction. Who should I contact?

In the registration form, you will be able to indicate a dietary restriction or need. You may also email events@linuxfoundation.org and reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate.

Are conference sessions being recorded or livestreamed?

Keynote sessions will be recorded & live-streamed.  ELC breakout sessions will be recorded.

Do I need to sign up for breakout sessions?

To help us gauge the popularity of sessions, make final room assignments, and prevent overcrowding, we are asking everyone to take a moment to build your personal schedule. The more participation we have among pre-event schedule builders the less chance session rooms will be standing room only.

To get started, please head to the schedule site and signup (or login if you already have an account). After logging in, peruse the schedule and when you see a session you’re interested in attending, simply click on the white circle next to the title. This will automatically add the session to your own personal schedule.

Lastly, for easy access back to your schedule on your phone, bookmark or add the mobile agenda to your home screen with this link: schedule link will be available in mid-August

Is there a conference app?

Are there bookable meeting rooms I can use during the conference?

There will not be any bookable meeting rooms at Embedded Linux Conference + OpenIoT Summit Europe.

How do I register for the conference?

What are the different registration types?

When are the early bird, standard, and late registration deadlines? Can I register onsite?

Onsite registration is available at the following dates/times in Strathblane Hall at the EICC:
Sunday, October 21, 10:00 – 18:30
Monday, October 22, 7:30 – 19:30
Tuesday, October 23, 7:30 – 19:30
Wednesday, October 24, 8:00 – 17:30

Do I qualify for the Academic registration type?

Registrants who are either full-time students or faculty of an academic institution of higher education. Students and full-time faculty who register as Academic attendees will be required to show a valid student or faculty ID when collecting their badge onsite. If you have any questions, please email events@linuxfoundation.org.

Do I qualify for the Hobbyist code?

You may choose this selection if you are paying for yourself to attend this conference and are currently active in the community. Please contact us at events@linuxfoundation.org to request the Hobbyist access code. Note, there are a limited number of codes available per conference.

Where do I get my speaker access code?

You should have received a registration link in your acceptance email. If you did not, please email cfp@linuxfoundation.org for more details.

Where do I get my sponsor access code?

A registration link was shared in an email to your company’s sponsorship contact. Please speak to your company’s sponsorship contact if you need to register as a Sponsor. For further questions, please email events@linuxfoundation.org.

Is there a discount for groups?

If you have a group of 10 or more people, you can receive a 10% discount on all passes. All pass types must be the same and all registrations must be processed under one group registration and paid for by the same credit card. To create a group, select “Add another Person” at the bottom of the registration form. When 10 or more people are added, the 10% discount will be automatically applied. Please contact events@linuxfoundation.org for questions.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

If you must cancel for any reason, please notify us via email at events@linuxfoundation.org. Refunds will only be issued for cancellations received 3 weeks prior to the first day of the event, and may take up to 14 days to process.

What is the substitution policy?

If you are unable to attend, you can substitute another attend in lieu of cancellation. Please contact events@linuxfoundation.org to process your substitution request.

Are there day passes available?

No, only full conference passes are available. For information on registration, please visit the Register page.

I can't / don't want to use a credit card to pay for my registration. What should I do?

If you are unable to pay by credit card, please email events@linuxfoundation.org with the conference name you are interested in attending and request to be invoiced for registration.

Are there scholarships available for this event?

Yes.

I need a visa letter to attend this event. How do I request one?

Are there volunteer opportunities at this conference?

No, at this time there are not any volunteer opportunities for this conference.

Are there media passes available?

Is a hotel reservation included in my registration?

No. Visit the Venue & Travel page for more information about how to make a hotel reservation.  Discounted hotel rates will no longer be available after Septemeber 3, 2018.

How do I make a hotel reservation?

Visit the Venue & Travel page to make a reservation within our discounted conference room block(s).

What are the discounted room rates for the conference? Is there a deadline to make a reservation?

Are there any suites or upgrades available?

All rooms within the discounted room block are standard rooms. For questions about available suites and upgrades, contact the hotel directly. Hotel contact information is available on the Venue & Travel page.

When will I receive confirmation of my hotel reservation?

Attendees will receive hotel room confirmations directly from the hotel. If you did not receive a confirmation, please contact the hotel directly.

Who should I contact if I have a question regarding my hotel reservation?

For questions regarding your hotel reservation, contact the hotel directly.

I need to cancel my hotel reservation. What should I do?

To modify or cancel your hotel reservation, contact the hotel you booked with directly.

I'm having issues booking my reservation at the conference hotel(s). Is there someone at the Linux Foundation that can help?

If the hotel reservation cutoff date has not passed, please contact events@linuxfoundation.org and a member of our team will be in touch shortly. If it has, you may need to secure alternative lodging. Visit the Venue & Travel page for alternative hotel options.

Sponsors

Where can I get a copy of the exhibitor floorplan?

Sponsors may view the floorplan, once available, by accessing the Information for Sponsors here: https://lf.expo-genie.com/osseu-elceu/. The final floorplan will be available for attendees onsite.

I am an exhibitor, where can I find booth information and deadlines?

For information about your booth and deadlines, visit the Information for Sponsors page here: https://lf.expo-genie.com/osseu-elceu/ and log in using the credentials provided to you. If you have not received login credentials or cannot locate them, email events@linuxfoundation.org.

I am staffing a booth in the sponsor showcase by not attending any sessions. Do I need to register?

For security purposes, everyone participating in the conference must be registered. Please speak to your company’s sponsorship contact if you need to register as a sponsor. For further questions, please email events@linuxfoundation.org.

Diversity & Inclusion

Will there be a nursing room at the conference?

Yes. For location information, please check with registration or information desk staff onsite. If you need a refrigerator, please email events@linuxfoundation.org prior to the conference to make arrangements.

Will child care be provided?

Complimentary childcare is available at the conference; however, pre-registration is required. For more information and to register, visit the Child Care page.

What is the policy on animals at the event?

Service animals are allowed at the conference.

Will there be a quiet room onsite?

Yes. It is a physical space where conversation and interaction are not allowed, where attendees can go if for any reason they can’t or don’t want to interact with other attendees at that time.

Is the conference venue accessible?

Yes. If you need assistance onsite locating an elevator or have other questions about accessibility, please speak to a member of the Linux Foundation event staff at any of the registration or information desks. If you have questions prior to the event, email events@linuxfoundation.org.

Are there evening events at the conference?

Can I bring a guest to the evening event?

Due to limited capacity at the venue, guests tickets cannot be purchased for the evening event.
