Jupyter Workshops are focused, collaborative in-person events designed to advance the Jupyter ecosystem through strategic, high-impact work and contributor connection.
These small-scale workshops provide dedicated space for contributor-driven collaboration around shared goals — from solving technical challenges to designing tools, strengthening project teams, and growing contributors in Jupyter’s open-source ecosystem. Workshops offer the chance to work intensively with others, build momentum on important efforts, and grow lasting relationships within the community.
Workshops are held throughout the year and span a range of topics. They are organized by members of the Jupyter community (including at least one member of the Union of Councils) and supported by the broader Jupyter leadership and infrastructure.

Deadline: Sunday, August 10, 2025 at 11:59pm PT
We’re currently accepting proposals for Jupyter Workshops to be held between September and December 2025.
Workshops must be oriented around contributions to Jupyter such as development sprints, design discussions, roadmap planning, or collaboration on core standards and architecture. These events should serve active contributors, maintainers, and project stakeholders within the broader Jupyter ecosystem.
We expect the workshops to involve up to about 12-24 participants over a 2–4 day period, and have a total Jupyter-funded budget of up to $20,000 for reimbursing direct expenses such as travel, lodging, meals, or event space (note this is not a grant with overhead or indirect costs).
Key Requirements
Workshops must focus on contributor-oriented goals related to Project Jupyter.
At least one organizer in each workshop must be a member of the Union of Councils, who will collaborate with organizers and represent community alignment.
