The Linux Foundation Europe Roadshow comes to Ghent on 29 October. It will bring together developers, community leaders, industry, and policymakers for a full day of exchange. The program is built around two parallel tracks that reflect the most pressing themes for open source today.
One track, led by its Platinum Sponsor, the Open Source Security Foundation, focuses on cybersecurity. Sessions will unpack the Cyber Resilience Act in a practical, accessible way for contributors, explore how licensing interacts with compliance, and provide space to work through concrete challenges together. This track will feature the CRA Working Session for Manufacturers and Stewards, a continuation of a successful workshop carried out in 2024 in Amsterdam, which contributed to the launch of the LF Report “Unaware and Uncertain: The Stark Realities of Cyber Resilience Act Readiness in Open Source”.
The other track highlights the breadth of activity across Linux Foundation Europe. It begins with a series of project showcases, presenting how open source underpins the European and global technological landscape in a practical, collaborative way. It will be followed by discussions on the pressing topics in digital, including open source in artificial intelligence, approaches to funding and sustaining digital commons, and the ongoing debates around digital sovereignty and global collaboration.
Rather than framing regulation as a barrier, this event emphasizes how open source communities can actively shape the environment in which they operate – strengthening security, fostering innovation, and ensuring open collaboration across Europe and beyond.
This event is a part of a series of the Linux Foundation events in Belgium:
- 28/10 – Linux Foundation Europe Member Summit, Ghent (invite only)
- 29/10 – Linux Foundation Europe Roadshow, Ghent
- 30/10 – OpenSSF and CEPS: European Open Source Security Forum, Brussels (invite only)
The topics and panels planned for these events allow for a well-rounded update of the state of open source in Europe. The insights from each of the three events can serve as a solid kick-starter for important discussions within organisations dealing with open source.
