Virtual Event Update

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2020 is now an online experience taking place August 17 – 20. ServiceMeshCon will take place on August 17.

Hello Cloud Native Community!

The news of the extended ban on public events in The Netherlands through August 31 has fully focused our team’s efforts on delivering an outstanding virtual KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2020. 

As our physical event shifts to a virtual one, know that we are taking thoughtful actions to create an immersive experience that provides you with interactive content and collaboration with peers. You will have the ability to network with other attendees, attend presentations with live Q&A, interact with sponsors real-time, and much more. 

We’re excited to include you in the reimagined KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2020, an experience where we will continue to shape the future of cloud native together.

Thank you for your patience while we work through this fluid situation to create a new and unique KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe event.

Next Steps:

  • If you are currently registered and would like to remain in the event, no action is needed. We will refund you, less the $75 virtual event registration fee, and resend your invoice. Please allow 14 business days for the refund to process, though we’re trying to get it done faster.
  • If you are currently registered and would like to substitute or cancel your registration, log back into your registration using your confirmation number, and select “substitute” or “unregister.”
  • If you are not currently registered, but interested in participating in the virtual event, please give us a little time to prepare a new registration form. We will announce the details as soon as we have the information available.
  • If you have a hotel reservation, you should cancel at this time.
  • If you have booked a flight, you should cancel at this time.

FAQ

How much will the virtual event cost?

I’m registered for the live event; what do I do?

In what time zone will the event be held?
We are hard at work on the logistics concerning time zones, how many times a presentation will repeat, and general event format. We will share this information with you when it is confirmed.

What about the speakers and the sessions?
Our plan is to keep the sessions the same, which is dependent on speaker availability.

What can you tell us about the virtual platform?
The virtual platform we are considering will allow us to create an immersive experience for attendees, with educational sessions that offer speaker and attendee Q&A and interaction; attendee collaboration and networking through topical chat rooms, and 1:1 and group chats; sponsor and tech showcase where attendees can view demos, download resources, check out job openings, and speak directly with booth reps.

I’m sponsoring the live event; what do I do?
We sincerely hope that all of our sponsors will be able to join us for our virtual event. We are in the midst of creating sponsor packages and preparing an updated prospectus. Our sponsorship team will connect with you directly as soon as this information is available. Please reach out to sponsorservices@cncf.io if you need immediate assistance.

I’m a speaker; what do I do?
You will be receiving separate communications from CNCF. We are planning to keep the sessions the same. The co-chairs will work with speakers who need to make adjustments to their topics to cover advances in the coming months, but the overall topic of the talks will remain the same.

If you are unable to participate in the virtual event, and you don’t have a co-speaker or a replacement speaker who can do the talk, we will backfill your talk from the waitlist.

I’m a diversity scholarship recipient; what do I do?
Your scholarship will automatically transfer to the virtual event. We recommend that you cancel your flight and hotel reservations if you have not already. Additional information will be provided soon.

I am hosting or have registered for a Day Zero co-located event; what do I do?
We are in the process of confirming next steps for co-located events. Please keep an eye out for more details to come.
