Health + Safety

Updated 9 May 2022

We have reinstated the mask mandate for the event. We apologize for the confusion. See the Mask Mandate section below for further details.

As of April 20 Spain has dropped their mask mandate country-wide (except in medical centers and nursing homes). Many airlines have also dropped mask mandates recently. Please keep these in mind when making travel plans.

This page will be updated regularly with information on our onsite health and safety protocols for this event. Our attendees’ health and safety remain our top priority as we continue to monitor COVID-19 and look to venue, local, state, CDC, and WHO guidelines to make the best and most informed decisions around onsite safety and requirements.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ADDITION TO OUR EVENT VACCINE REQUIREMENT, THE COUNTRY OF SPAIN HAS ADDITIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS BASED ON YOUR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN.

IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Mask Mandate

While Spain’s indoor mask mandate has been dropped, we are still requiring masks to be worn while indoors at the event with a few exceptions. Masks do not need to be worn:

  • By speakers while delivering a talk.
  • By any event participants while actively eating or drinking.
  • By any event participants who have a disability or impairment that makes wearing a make unfeasible.
  • While outdoors.

Food and beverage will not be allowed in the keynote room or conference session rooms. Food and beverage will be allowed in all other areas including the Solutions Showcase and foyers.

Masks must be worn over the nose and mouth and must be made of a tight-knit, non-permeable material. KN95 or N95 masks are recommended. Cloth masks are acceptable. Bandanas, scarves, and gators are not permitted to be used as masks.

Vaccine Requirement

Attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus in order to attend the event. Fully vaccinated (for purposes of attending the event, not for purposes of entering Spain) is defined as two weeks (14 full days) after the final dose (1 of 1 or 2 of 2) of a government-approved vaccine.

Accepted Vaccines
Only vaccines approved for emergency or full use by the World Health Organization fulfill our vaccine requirement. View the most up-to-date list of accepted vaccines here

On-site Vaccine Verification
Participants will need to show proof of vaccination and a government-issued photo ID to enter the event. The following are acceptable forms of proof of full vaccination:

  • Government-issued or government-compliant digital vaccination verification app (such as Clear or VaxYes)
  • Physical (or digital photocopy of) COVID-19 vaccination card, record or certificate issued by a government agency, public health agency or other authorized vaccine provider (a photo will also suffice).

The proof of vaccination record must show the name of the vaccinated individual along with one other personal identifier (such as date of birth or passport number), name of manufacturer for vaccine received, and date(s) of vaccination. It must also include the name of the official source issuing the record (e.g., public health agency, government agency, or other authorized vaccine provider).

Daily Temperature + Symptom Checks

Event participants will receive a daily temperature and symptom check prior to entering the ‘event zone.’ This will only be required upon first entry each day. A badge sticker will be provided after the check to allow for re-entry for the remainder of the day without additional checks.

Wearable Indicators of Social Distance Comfort Levels

We will provide a wearable indicator of social distance comfort levels for event participants to wear onsite (optional but encouraged). Participants are asked to be respectful of each other’s comfort level on social distance.

Spain COVID-related Entry Requirements

If you are traveling to Spain, review the entry requirements from your country of origin on the Spain Ministry of Health’s Travel Health Portal. Spain requires proof of one of the following for entry:

  • Vaccinations (including a booster if initial doses were more than 270 days before entry).
  • A negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arrival.
  • COVID-19 recovery certificate (within the last 180 days).

Note that entry to the event requires proof of vaccination, regardless of Spain’s entry requirements.

View Spain Entry Requirements

Read carefully to ensure you have the most recent information regarding travel rules and regulations based on your country of origin. The requirement may change so continue to check back for updates.

The completion of the Health Control Form (FCS) and the SpTH QR code may be required to show upon entry based on your country of origin.

COVID-19 Testing Options in Valencia

Many attendees may need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test to return to their home countries after the event. We have partnered with EventScan for on-site antigen testing on Thursday, 19 May and Friday, 20 May. On-site testing is complimentary for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe attendees  but limited in quantity and must be booked in advance.

The test is designed for international travel where a negative antigen test is required for entry. Testing is typically required within one (1) day of a departure flight. Please double check your country specific travel requirements prior to booking your appointment.

All tests conducted on-site are EU approved and HIPPA compliant antigen tests. Tests will be conducted via a minimally invasive nasal swab.

On-site Testing Hours:

  • Thursday, 19 May:  11:00 – 19:00
  • Friday, 20 May:  8:00 – 18:30

Testing Location:

  • Feria Valencia – Pavilion 3, Level 2, Central Forum

How To Schedule Your Onsite Antigen Testing Appointment:

  • Schedule your antigen testing appointment with EventScan and complete the required registration form, including selecting your preferred day and time slot. You will need your departure flight date and time when completing the registration form.
  • Upon completion, you will receive an email from EventScan confirming your testing appointment.
  • 24-hours prior to your scheduled appointment you will receive a reminder email and text message reminding you to bring your photo id or passport to the testing appointment.
  • Upon arrival for your scheduled appointment, please bring a valid photo ID or  passport so EventScan may confirm your information for international travel.
  • Test results will be emailed to you directly within minutes of the test. Due to high demand, results may be delayed slightly but are guaranteed to be received by the end of business each day. If you do not see your results, check your spam folder.  Results will be sent from noreply@jotform.com.
