What is the format of RISC-V Summit 2022 and when will it take place?

RISC-V Summit is a hybrid event that will take place in person with a virtual component from December 13-14, 2022. The event will deliver in-person and online content.

What time zone will the event be in?

RISC-V Summit 2022 will be held in Pacific Standard Time (PST), UTC -8.

Where do I pick up my name badge?

Badge pick-up will be located in the Hall 2 Foyer on the 2nd floor of the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. Make sure you bring your ID and registration confirmation with you when you pick up your badge.

Name badges must be worn at all times and cannot be shared with other attendees.

What is the recommended attire?

There is no set dress code and, like many open source events, attendees will dress in a range, from jeans to suits. Our recommendation is business casual; jeans are absolutely acceptable. Please wear layers; conference rooms have a tendency to get cold.

Will the sessions be recorded?

Yes! All workshops and sessions will be live-streamed in real-time to the virtual event platform, along with being recorded and uploaded to the RISC-V International YouTube channel post-event so they are freely accessible to anyone, anywhere. 

How do I access a speaker’s slides after the conference?

Any session slides provided by speakers will be added to the event schedule as they are received.  While we encourage all speakers to share their slides, there may be instances where slides are not made available.

Is there a lost & found?

Yes, the lost & found location will be at registration.

Can I register onsite?

Yes – if you did not have a chance to register online before the event, you may register on-site. Please note that the registration process on-site may take 10-15 minutes. We will only be able to accept credit card payments.

I want to attend Member Day but do not have a code, how do I find this?

Member Day is for members only. If you are a member and need the registration code please contact info@riscv.org.

Where do I get my speaker access code?

You should have received a registration link and code in your acceptance email.  If you did not, please email speakers@riscv.org for more details.

Where do I get my sponsor access code?

A registration link and code were shared in an email to your company’s sponsorship contact.  Please speak to your company’s sponsorship contact if you need to register as a Sponsor.  For further questions, please email events@riscv.org.

Are there media passes available?

If you are a member of the media interested in attending the conference and have not received a complimentary access code to attend, please contact RISC-V@racepointglobal.com.

Who can I contact about questions or problems regarding my registration?

What are the cancellation, refund, and substitution policies?

I can’t / don’t want to use my credit card for registration.  What should I do?

If you are unable to pay by credit card, please email events@riscv.org with the conference name you are interested in attending and request to be invoiced for registration.

Are there scholarships available?

Yes, to encourage and increase the participation of a diverse community, we are pleased to offer diversity and need-based registration scholarships, discounts, and travel funding to our conferences.

Do I qualify for the Academic registration type?

If you are a full-time student or faculty of an academic institution of higher education, you qualify for this registration type.  You will be required to submit a copy of your student or faculty ID when registering online.  If you have any questions, please email events@riscv.org.

I need a visa letter to attend this event. How do I request one?

Is registration for Linux Foundation and RISC-V Events GDPR compliant?

Health & Safety

What health measures and safety protocols is RISC-V International taking to ensure a safe in-person event?

Our attendees’ health and safety are our top priority as we continue to monitor COVID-19 and look to the venue, local, state, and WHO guidelines to make final decisions around onsite safety and requirements.

Will attendance be limited?

Attendance may be limited to ensure any locally mandated social distancing and capacity limits are met. It is recommended that you secure your registration as early as possible if you would like to attend the event.

Will I be required to wear a mask?

What happens if I need to cancel due to COVID?

During the ongoing COVID pandemic, refunds will be issued up until the start date of the event and all processing fees will be waived.


I have questions regarding sponsorships. Who should I contact?

I am staffing a sponsor table but not attending any sessions. Do I need to register?

Everyone participating in the conference, including sponsor booth set-up, should be registered. Please speak to your company’s sponsorship contact if you need to register as a sponsor. For further questions, please email events@riscv.org.

Diversity & Inclusion

Will there be a nursing room at the conference?

Yes. For location information, please check with registration or information desk staff onsite.  If you need a refrigerator, please email events@riscv.org prior to the conference to make arrangements.

Will child care be provided?

Complimentary childcare will be available onsite during event days. Check out our Child Care page for more information and to RSVP.

Virtual Platform

What is the cost for the virtual event and how do I register?

When will the platform open and how do I access it?

The virtual platform will be available one day before the event. The events team will send out an email with the platform link and login instructions.

What are the benefits of attending the virtual RISC-V Summit?

Attending the RISC-V Summit virtually will give you the same benefits as our in-person event, including keynote sessions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities, all from the comfort and safety of your own homes.

Specific Event Features include:

What are the system requirements needed to participate in the virtual event?

We are using the AccelEvents virtual event platform, and this is a web-based, HTML5 platform. Chrome is the preferred browser however when using an iPhone or an iPad, Safari may work better.

Live technical assistance will be available within the event platform during the event to help you troubleshoot any issues.

How will the virtual sessions work?

Sessions will take place at scheduled times just as they would at a face-to-face event. Speakers will be available for a live presentation and Q&A. And of course, all sessions will be recorded and available to attendees on-demand after the event.

Will all sessions be recorded?

Yes! Once the event ends, all attendees will be able to access the sessions and other content and resources from the event platform for two weeks. Additionally, all recorded sessions will be transferred to the RISC-V International YouTube channel post-event so they are freely accessible to anyone, anywhere.

I attend RISC-V Summit mainly for networking. How is that possible in a virtual event?

We know how invaluable face-to-face networking is at events and we purposefully chose a virtual event platform that we felt most closely replicated the real-world capabilities for attendee networking at an event. Attendees will be able to connect with speakers, sponsors, and experts through a “hallway track” with other attendees in group and 1:1 chats.

How will the Event Code of Conduct be enforced in a virtual environment?

All participants must abide by the RISC-V Summit Event Code of Conduct in virtual events just as they would at physical ones. We will be monitoring language and images throughout the platform to ensure there are no violations of the CoC, and quickly handle any that we might find. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns relating to harassment, please contact a member of the conference staff immediately through the Information desk in the event platform, or email Senior Event Manager, Deb Giles, at deb@riscv.org.

Using the Virtual Platform

How do I use the RISC-V Summit platform?

It is easy to navigate around the platform, here are some tips to have a successful event:
The left-hand navigation controls your movement throughout the platform.

From the Lobby, you can view the Agenda, Sponsors, Event Info, Venue Map, and answers to many frequently asked questions.

Keynotes and Sessions will show you all of the sessions of that type, making it easy to bounce from session to session. You can see all sessions within the Lobby – Agenda.

Visit People to find other attendees at the event to connect with 1 on 1. You can send them a message or schedule a meeting with them.

Stop by the Expo Hall to visit the virtual sponsor booths.

At the top of the event, you will see a calendar icon and a bell. The calendar shows what meetings you have set with other attendees, and the bell shows notifications for any requests to connect, messages, video calls, etc.

You can also click on your name to edit your profile, add a picture, social networking links, and other pertinent information. In your profile, you can also turn off the capability to receive meeting requests and direct messages from other attendees.

How do I network with others during this event?

You can find a list of attendees and their profiles in the “People” tab. Here you can request to be connected (like a friend request), send them a direct message, request for a meeting, and have a video call during your meeting.

How do I set up a one-on-one meeting with another attendee?

Go to the “People” tab in the Navigation Menu, this is where you will see a list of attendees and their profiles. Here you can request to be connected or request a meeting.

How do I chat with others during a session?

You can use the Session Chat on the right-hand side of the screen.

When I join the session, I cannot hear anyone speaking, what do I do?

If you enter a session and see a live presentation but cannot hear the presenter speak, please make sure your speakers and volume are enabled. If this does not work please try clearing your browser’s cache and refreshing the page, along with visiting System Check in the left-navigation menu. If you continue to have issues, contact us in the Events Help Desk.

I am using Internet Explorer, but the platform doesn’t seem to be working. What can I do?

This virtual experience does not support Internet Explorer. Please try using a browser such as Safari, Chrome, or Firefox.

If you’re having a hard time logging in or joining the sessions, here are some tips to make it work:
  • Use the recommended browser (Chrome)
  • Make sure that your browser is up to date
  • Refresh your page:
    • Windows: Ctrl + F5
    • Mac: Command + Shift + R
  • Clear your browser’s cache:
    • Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Clear browsing data > Clear data
    • Safari: Command + Alt + E
  • Access the page in an incognito window (Ctrl + Shift + N)
  • Restart your device
  • Try the other recommended browsers (Safari and Firefox)
  • Check your internet connection / speed (it should be at least 5mbs)
  • Enable the camera and microphone in your browser:
  • Enable pop-ups in your browser
  • Disable any firewalls or VPNs (e.g malware, AVG)
I do not see a logout button; how do I leave the event platform?

You can leave the event platform by closing out of the browser window, or click the Logout button located under your profile picture in the top right navigation menu.
