Join us for an exciting and educational experience at Kids Day during KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2025! Designed to engage young minds in the world of technology and innovation, Kids Day offers a fun-filled afternoon of interactive workshops tailored for children ages 8 to 14. Inspiring the next generation of tech enthusiasts, Kids Day provides a unique opportunity for children to explore the world of open source technologies in an inclusive and supportive environment. Whether your child is already curious about technology or you’re hoping to spark their interest, Kids Day promises an unforgettable learning adventure for the tech leaders of tomorrow.

Cost: There is no cost to attend. However, you must pre-register for the event. Please register by Sunday, 23 March.

What to bring: Bring a great attitude and an open mind! All equipment and light refreshments will be provided.

*Kids will participate in both of the workshops provided.

Animating Phippy and Friends on the Micro:bit

The micro:bit is a small embedded board that has everything you need to create fun projects. It has LEDs to display pictures, buttons, and sensors that you can control using block coding or Python. In this workshop we will program the micro:bit to draw the CNCF mascot characters, Phippy and Friends, and use animation and sound to create a fun little game.

Roblox Game Design with Phippy & Friends

Phippy, the giraffe and her friends raced through the rainy streets of London in a game of Capture the Flag. But then, mischievous badgers decided to hack them at their own game and hid the flag inside a secret Roblox world. Using the popular game development platform called Roblox Studio, you must navigate through an array of exciting tasks that involve blocky 3D modeling, Luau scripts, terrain tools, weather obstacles, physics constraints, and other basic game design techniques. With internet security tips sprinkled along the way, your mission is to find the flag and escape the Roblox world with all your data intact. Do you have what it takes?

Who Can Attend?

CNCF would like to invite children in London and the surrounding areas who are interested in technology, coding, and STEAM fields. This workshop is appropriate for ages 8 – 14 (kids under 8 are welcome, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian).

Are Parents Required to Stay During the Event?

Parents of children ages 8-14 are not required to stay during the event as long as they have accepted the medical authorization form when checking in their child onsite. Parents must stay if they do not agree to the medical authorization, or if their child is under the age of 8 years old.

What is the Dropoff / Pickup Process?

Upon arrival at the venue, navigate to the designated event space for Kids Day. Parents/guardians must check-in their child at the registration area and either consent to or decline the medical waiver. Parents/guardians of children 8 years and older who have consented to the medical waiver are allowed to leave during the event, and must return by 16:15. All parents/guardians picking up their child at the end of the event must show proof of identification (drivers license, passport, or other government issued ID). Parents who remain at the event must still show proof of identification to pick up their child.

All participants must abide by our Health + Safety requirements.
