Onsite Health & Safety
Check this page for updates about health and safety recommendations.
Our community’s well-being is extremely important to us, and creating a safe, worry-free event is our top priority. We will adjust our health and safety protocols as needed while updating this page with information about plans for our attendees onsite. We continue to look to local municipality guidelines to make the best and most informed decisions around onsite safety and requirements. All in-person attendance requirements are subject to change based on local guidelines.
Air Quality Update
The CNCF team continues to actively monitor the air quality in Delhi and stay updated on evolving conditions.
The event is moving forward as planned. We look forward to seeing you in Delhi!
For those that don’t know, November typically brings poorer air quality conditions to Delhi due to (1) the burning of agricultural stubble in neighboring states during harvest season and (2) unfavorable weather conditions when the seasons/weather change which causes temperature inversions that trap pollutants close to the ground, creating a thick smog.
Historically these poorer air conditions are cleared up by the 1st week of December. This coupled with the additional steps the government is currently taking to reduce air pollution (mechanized sweeping, reduced movement of vehicles, ban on diesel vehicles, suspended construction activities, among others) make us feel comfortable at this time to move forward with the event.
The event venue does have an HVAC system that will help to keep air quality inside better, and we are bringing in additional air purifiers as well. We are monitoring the air quality for the venue’s location in Delhi here (select Dwarka-Section 8 for the Station), which is currently showing AQI 297 as of this writing. For context, the average December 1st AQI in Delhi from 2018 to 2022 was 332.
For your protection, it is recommended to wear an N95 face mask. CNCF will have a limited supply available for attendees. Please consult your healthcare provider if you have pre-existing conditions that may be affected by air quality.
Security Screening
Due to current regulations, all event attendees are required to undergo a brief security screening conducted by venue security personnel when they enter Yashobhoomi (event venue). This process is commonly known as frisking. The security screening typically involves a security officer using a handheld wand or walk-through metal detector in addition to a bag scan to screen for any prohibited items. Additionally, a light pat-down may be conducted. Security personnel are mindful of privacy and respect throughout the process. Attendees may be directed to a private screening area, such as a “frisking booth,” to ensure comfort and confidentiality.
Frisking is a routine procedure in India and will be utilized at the entry of most hotels, shopping centers, etc. Your cooperation and understanding help maintain a secure environment for everyone. If you have any concerns or require assistance during the frisking process, please feel free to ask the security personnel.
Food Allergies
The Linux Foundation believes it’s essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of all attendees, including those with food allergies.
If you have a food allergy we need to be aware of, please email us at events@cncf.io.
