Jonas van den Bogaard is a Digital Strategy Lead at Alliander, a distribution system operator (DSO) in the Netherlands. Alliander provides reliable, affordable, and accessible energy transport and distribution to a large part of the Netherlands. Open source has proved to be an enabler of innovation and collaboration. It is Jonas’ responsibility to ensure open source initiatives contribute to Alliander’s digital strategy and objectives. Jonas takes a leading role in Alliander’s OSPO.

Shaping the energy systems of tomorrow requires a combined knowledge of power systems and open, digital, and AI solutions, and management skills to make people worldwide innovate together. With a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science from MIT and a multifaceted international career at RTE, the TSO of France, I bring my experience, skills, curiosity, and enthusiasm in service of these goals.

Aude Pélet leads the team developing network study tools at RTE, the French transmission system operator. In this role, she promotes open-source approaches, which have proven to be powerful drivers of performance, collaboration, and innovation. She previously held operational roles in grid development, engineering, and system operations. This hands-on experience has strengthened her conviction that digital solutions are a critical performance lever for transmission system operators and a key enabler of the energy transition.

I am a Senior IT Solutions Architecture Advisor at Hydro-Québec, the largest electricity producer and distributor in Canada. Holding a PhD in telecommunications and physical engineering, I have more than 14 years of combined experience in scientific research, management, IT architecture, engineering, analysis, administration, and technical support.

My mission is to design, develop, deploy, and optimize innovative, high-performance digital solutions for the smart electrical grid, using cutting-edge technologies such as cloud computing, microservices, DevSecOps, open source, 5G, and cybersecurity. I work collaboratively with development, operations, security, and business teams, as well as external partners, to meet the needs of both internal and external clients while adhering to the company’s standards, processes, and best practices. I also contribute to technology monitoring, strategic positioning, research, and development related to the digital technologies used in the electrical grid.

Dan Brown oversees all marketing and communications operations for LF Energy, an open source foundation focused on the power systems sector, hosted within The Linux Foundation. He has held a variety of marketing-related roles at the Linux Foundation, including heading marketing for the foundation’s events and training businesses. Dan previously held senior roles in B2B technology-focused public relations agencies in London, San Francisco, and Chicago. He holds a BS in Public Policy and Management from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles and an MA in Public Communication and Public Relations from the University of Westminster in London.

Alex Thornton currently serves as Executive Director of the LF Energy Foundation, where he works to cultivate open source technology and standards for rapid energy system decarbonization. Alex has nearly two decades of experience in applying technology for energy and climate impact. He previously held a diverse set of roles across the US and Europe in startups and public companies. Prior to LF Energy, Alex served in leadership positions at energy and climate innovators including Cleartrace, Sunrun, Locus Energy, and Imperfect Foods, as well as advisory roles with other climate tech companies. Before that, Alex consulted on energy policy for the European Commission and performed due diligence on utility-scale solar projects throughout the world. Alex brings his full breadth of experience to bear at LF Energy to accelerate the energy transition.
