New York, New York
The city so nice they named it twice, New York City, is the largest city in the United States and the most linguistically diverse city in the world. It was also the first capital of the United States! It only lasted a year (1789).
One of the mainstays of New York City has been pizza. The first pizzeria in the United States opened in NYC in 1895. Since the 1960s, the price of a slice of pizza has been roughly the same price as a subway ride. Did you know that New York City’s Federal Reserve Bank has the largest gold storage in the world? There’s $90 billion in gold sitting 80 feet below street level. Talk about a gold mine! Another valuable structure is the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France, which was delivered in 350 pieces, across 214 crates. It took around four months to be assembled but it was definitely worth it! We think Frank Sinatra was on to something when he sang, “New York, New York”. We hope to see you there!
