Chip Huyen is a co-founder of Claypot AI, a platform for real-time machine learning. Previously, she was with Snorkel AI and NVIDIA. She teaches CS 329S: Machine Learning Systems Design at Stanford. She’s the author of Designing Machine Learning Systems (O’Reilly, 2022).

LinkedIn included her among Top Voices in Software Development (2019) and Top Voices in Data Science & AI (2020). She’s the author of four Vietnamese books.

Manohar leads the Generative AI engineering and research efforts and over the past two decades has worked on large scale image, video understanding, building conversational assistants and in the recent role is leading the organization focused on building foundation models like Llama and Emu models that are powering the next generation of products for Meta.

Jack Min is a Machine Learning Engineer at Jina AI, where he plays a part in managing cloud infrastructure for serving and training training large language models and diffusion models. He’s also the proud owner of a janky 4 GPU machine he built from second-hand parts for machine learning development.

Chet Kapoor is Chairman and CEO of DataStax, the real-time AI company. With more than two decades of leadership across tech giants like Google, IBM, and BEA Systems, Chet has always thought about infusing AI into businesses at scale. With his roots at Steve Jobs’ company NeXT, Chet learned the power of working with incredible people who want to change the world. This insight helped fuel his career and he ultimately took the helm of Apigee as CEO in 2007 where he saw APIs as a platform for bringing AI to the enterprise.

After a successful IPO and eventual acquisition of Apigee by Google, Chet dug in and recognized the solution to deeply enabling AI at scale was to start with data. His journey culminated when he became the CEO of DataStax in October 2019. With a focus on strategy, operations, and people, the company launched Astra DB—a pioneering DBaaS powered by Apache Cassandra—and seamlessly integrated real-time AI with streaming capabilities and event processing engine, Kaskada’s, feature store. Now, with vector search for generative AI, DataStax customers can build massively scalable AI agents and deliver powerful apps leveraging generative AI.

I am currently a Principal Research Software Engineer at the Human-AI eXperiences (HAX) team, Microsoft Research where I focus on Generative AI. My research interests are at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI), computational social science, and applied machine learning. My research has been published at conferences such as ACL, EMNLP, AAAI, and CHI and has received multiple best paper awards. My work has also been featured in outlets such as the Wall Street Journal and VentureBeat. I am an IEEE Senior member, a Google Certified Professional (Data Engineer, Cloud Architect) and currently a Google Developer Expert in Machine Learning.

I Hold a PhD in Information Systems from City University of Hong Kong (recipient of the HKPFS scholar award by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council). My dissertation studied developer contribution behaviour in software crowdsourcing contests – factors influencing participation, the impact of incentives on participation behaviour and the problem solving process within crowdsourcing contests. Prior to City University, I studied at the Information Networking Institute at Carnegie Mellon University where I earned a Masters degree in Information Networking. I previously worked as a Principal Research Engineer at Cloudera Fast Forward Labs, Research Staff Member at IBM Research, Technical Lead for MIT Global Startup Labs, Researcher at the Innovation Management Lab, Athens Information Technology Athens Greece, and founder/lead developer for a small startup focused on West African markets.

In my free time, I enjoy music (some self taught guitar, piano), sports (participated in the Hong Kong Marathon thrice) and exploring art (some drawing, 3d modelling, african mask art).

Brian Granger is a Senior Principal Technologist at Amazon Web Services and a professor of physics and data science at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. He works at the intersection of UX design and engineering on tools for scientific computing, data science, machine learning, and data visualization. Brian is a co-founder and leader of Project Jupyter, co-founder of the Altair project for statistical visualization, and creator of the PyZMQ project for ZMQ-based message passing in Python. At AWS he is a technical and open source leader in the AI/ML organization. Brian also represents AWS as a board member of the PyTorch Foundation. He is a winner of the 2017 ACM Software System Award for his work on Project Jupyter and has a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Neta is a product leader with passion for developing impactful AI services at a global scale. She has Deep experience in AI, enterprises and accelerating the adoption and positive impact of AI in organization by bringing together the latest innovations into products that enable the use of new AI technologies. Prior to her current role a Neta led Azure OpenAI on your data and Azure AI Document Intelligence products and was also the CTO of Microsoft Venture Accelerator.

Sophia Izokun is a Data Scientist within CISO at IBM, she has 2.5. years experience in data science and analytics and also holds an MSc degree in Data Science from Middlesex University (UK). She’s proficient in Python, Java, and R as well as data engineering techniques. As part of the responsibilities of her current role she leverages open source tools to process logs and enriches them in order to provide more context around the data her team works with.

Co-founder of Ainekko: a 100% open-source company on a mission to democratize how “the machine learning community collaborates on models, datasets, and applications” and helping “the AI community building the future” have more choices than just a single (albeit awesome!) walled garden. He is a serial entrepreneur, technologist and a co-founder and former CTO of ZEDEDA who is deeply involved in the world of Open Source as both VP of Legal Affairs at the ASF and a former VP of Technology at the LF.

Alan is the VP of AI at DataStax, and is responsible for DataStax product strategy and research in AI. Prior to DataStax, Alan was product lead at Google’s Quantum AI team, where he helped pioneer novel machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow Quantum, and benchmarking of Google’s quantum computer for the Quantum Supremacy experiment. Alan is a physicist by training, and got his was awarded his first patent in vector search in 2004.

Abhishek Gupta is the Director for Responsible AI with BCG and Founder & Principal Researcher at the Montreal AI Ethics Institute. His work focuses on applied technical, policy, and organizational measures in Responsible AI. Before, he worked as an ML Engineer at Microsoft and served on the Responsible AI Board. He holds the prestigious BCG Henderson Institute Fellowship on Augmented Collective Intelligence, studying the complementary strengths in hybrid collectives of humans and machines.

Montana is Co-founder & CEO of PostgresML. Previously at Instacart he created the machine learning platform, and designed the core search and recommendation infrastructure. Prior, he founded a YC backed startup to build distributed code search for programmers, and has been working on Search, NLP and Machine Learning systems for more than 2 decades.

Tina Tsou, Director of Infrastructure Ecosystem at Arm, is a recognized leader in open source software, cloud infrastructure, and edge computing. She chairs the Kubernetes Edge Day events under the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) and serves as the Board Chair of LF Edge. Previously, Tina was a Domain Expert in Connectivity at Philips Lighting. An advocate for open source technology, Tina often speaks at industry events and mentors emerging tech talent.

Jorge O. Castro is a community manager, specializing in Open Source. He’s basically a cat herder – a combination of engineering, developer relations, and user advocacy.

Starting as a system administrator at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan, Jorge joined Canonical to work on Ubuntu for about 10 years before moving to Heptio to work on Kubernetes. Heptio was then acquired by VMware in December 2018 where he learned about Enterprise software (oh boy!). Then he did a tour at Stacklet working on the Cloud Custodian project, saving you some dollar bills. These days Jorge is a Developer Advocate at the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, where he’s tasked with helping make open source sustainable.

At Zilliz, I lead solutions engineering, developer relations, and user success teams. As a member of technical staff, I also hold the title of ML Architect.

Sujata leads a cross-functional, forum of open source leaders to ensure Alignment and a positive presence in communities for their 50+ Open source projects. She has grown developers’ communities from scratch from 0 to thousands into vendor-neutral communities like Linux Foundation. She has also established developer summits to become flagship community events. Under her leadership, Intel Network Developer Evangelism program was nominated for the Network Transformation Awards.

Ofer Hermoni is a distinguished entrepreneur, having launched groundbreaking startups in the patents and privacy arenas. Renowned in the artificial intelligence sphere, he was instrumental as a co-founder of the LF AI & Data. Today, he’s at the helm of the Generative AI Commons’ Education & Outreach program. Equipped with a Ph.D. in computer science, Ofer holds a remarkable array of over 60 patents across domains such as artificial intelligence, networking, privacy, security, and blockchain.

Tanya Dadasheva is a co-founder of Ainekko: a 100% open-source company democratizing how “the machine learning community collaborates on models, datasets, and applications” building economically viable, self-governed, developer-centric future. Dev is Co-founder and CEO for Predibase, a company built on top of open source foundations and redefining ML tooling with a declarative approach. Prior to Predibase, he was a ML PM at Google working across products like Firebase, Google Research and the Google Assistant as well as Vertex AI. While there, Dev was also the first product manager for Kaggle – a data science and machine learning community with over 8 million users worldwide. Dev’s academic background is in computer science and statistics, and he holds a masters in computer science from Harvard University focused on machine learning.

Christine is the CEO/cofounder of Honeycomb, an observability tool for engineers to understand what’s happening with their code in production.

She cares deeply about bridging the gap between devs and ops with technological and cultural improvements—and thinks that observability is really just a way to do in production what software engineers have done forever: check whether the expected behavior is actually happening, and investigate when something weird is happening.

Observability that helps solve problems you couldn’t before

Ben, a global advocate, collaborates with legislators worldwide for AI regulation that fosters open innovation. He’s testified before the US Senate on image models and the UK Parliament on language models. Ben champions responsible regulation of emerging tech with industry leaders like Uber, Coinbase, and Alphabet’s Wing. Working in ~25 countries, from Texas to Tel Aviv, he guides high-stakes reforms. Based in San Francisco, Ben holds degrees in law and history from the University of Sydney.

Farshad is a Lead Consultant at Sourced Group, an Amdocs company. He specializes in helping large enterprises build out Data and ML Platforms in the Cloud. He is currently leading efforts to develop an end-to-end MLOps platform running on Kubeflow and other open-sourced software. He is also leading the GenAI training initiative to bring about wider adoption of Generative AI models in the enterprise. If you let him, he will prob talk about Machine Learning and GenAI for days on end.
