Health & Safety

Updated April 11, 2022

This page will be updated regularly with information on our onsite health and safety protocols for this event. Our attendees’ health and safety remain our top priority as we continue to monitor COVID-19 and look to venue, local, state, CDC, and WHO guidelines to make the best and most informed decisions around onsite safety and requirements.

IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS

Mask Mandate

Masks are not required to be worn at LSF/MM + BPF Summit.  That said, everyone who would feel more comfortable wearing one is encouraged to do so. Please respect those who choose to wear a mask.

Vaccine Requirement

Attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks (14 full days) after the final dose (1 of 1, or 2 of 2) of a government-approved vaccine.

Accepted Vaccines
Only vaccines approved for emergency or full use by the World Health Organization fulfill our vaccine requirement. View the most up-to-date list of accepted vaccines here

On-Site Vaccine Verification
Participants will need to show proof of vaccination and a government-issued photo id to enter the event. The following are acceptable forms of proof of full vaccination:

Approved Forms of COVID Vaccination:

  • Government-issued or government-compliant digital vaccination verification app (such as Clear or VaxYes)
  • Physical (or digital photocopy of) COVID-19 vaccination card, record or certificate issued by a government agency, public health agency or other authorized vaccine provider (a photo will also suffice).

If proof of vaccination does not include a QR code, then the record must show the name of the vaccinated individual along with one other personal identifier (such as date of birth or passport number), name of manufacturer for vaccine received, and date(s) of vaccination. It must also include the name of the official source issuing the record (e.g., public health agency, government agency, or other authorized vaccine provider).

Daily Temperature & Symptom Checks

By entering the ‘event zone’, event participants are self-certifying they are not experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19. They must also certify that if they’ve had close contact/exposure to someone with Covid-19 in the past 10 days, they will wear a mask at the event, and have received a negative Covid-19 test at least 5 days after known exposure. We will not require daily temperature checks at this event.

Wearable Indicators of Social Distance Comfort Levels

We will provide a wearable indicator of social distance comfort levels for event participants to wear onsite (optional but encouraged). Participants are asked to be respectful of each other’s comfort level on social distance.

BADGE PICK-UP & EVENT ENTRY PROCESS

Participants will be required to have proof of identification and vaccination verified in order to pick up their badge and enter the event. This will take place at onsite registration.

Once a participant receives their badge, that will be considered their proof of vaccination for the duration of the event

ONSITE HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES

Please expect the following to be in place at the 2022 in-person events:

  • Vaccine requirement
  • Event signage with Attendee Health & Safety Checklist and Self Attestation
  • Event signage indicating required on-site Health and Safety protocols
  • Eating/drinking areas with individual seating in socially distanced areas
  • Reduced conference room capacities with social distanced seating
  • Wider aisles and increased event traffic flow signage to allow for physical distancing
  • Rigorous onsite cleaning and sanitizing of all touchpoints including cleaning of each badge check-in station between participants
  • Proper health and safety protocols for those handling food & beverage
  • Sanitized microphones between each speaker’s use
  • Plentiful sanitation stations onsite
  • Personal hand sanitizer bottles and wipes available for participants

At a minimum, we will be following all mandated venue, municipality, and CDC guidelines. This list, and all protocols, are subject to change as the fluid COVID-19 situation changes.

RESOURCES & GUIDANCE

Should you end up testing positive:

  • Follow the CDC guidelines on what to do if you get sick.
  • Please follow the guidance of the testing facility, urgent care, or hospital that you visited in order to best protect yourself, as well as the community. The facility at which you test positive will notify the Department of Health if deemed necessary by local guidelines for contact tracing purposes.
  • You will not be able to return to the event.
  • Email Angela Brown, GM of Events, at angela@linuxfoundation.org, to let us know. While we will need to let event participants know that someone onsite tested positive for COVID-19, we will not disclose your name. We will ask attendees to monitor their own symptoms and follow CDC recommendations on what to do if they may have been around a person who had COVID-19

We are consulting with Dr. Joel Selanikio, a physician and former CDC epidemiologist + outbreak investigator, to do our best to ensure the health and safety of our onsite participants and minimize all risks. Dr. Selanikio served as a consultant epidemiologist to the DC Department of Health and to FEMA for the COVID-19 response over 2020-21.

We are also working closely with the local Department of Health to ensure we are following all local requirements and recommendations. We continue to follow all CDC guidelines in addition to those of the local government and venue.
