FAQ

General

What are the system requirements needed to participate in the virtual event?

We are using MeetingPlay, a web-based event platform. You do not need to download any application to participate. MeetingPlay recommends connecting to the event using the Chrome browser from an internet-enabled desktop or laptop. While you can access the event from a phone or tablet for brief viewing, it is not recommended for full functionality and experience.

What is the format of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2021 – Virtual and when will it take place?

KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe 2021 is a virtual experience that will take place online from May 4-7. This virtual event will deliver content over four days, including keynotes, lightning talks, conference sessions across 14 tracks, tutorials, and co-located events. The virtual event includes an interactive sponsor solutions showcase, attendee collaboration and networking tools, and more.

What are the benefits of attending the virtual event?

Experience KubeCon + CloudNativeCon from the comfort, safety, and convenience of your home – all you need is the internet and a web browser.

Benefits and features include:

  • Informative and timely content across ~200 sessions with live speaker Question + Answer (Q+A)
  • The ‘hallway track’ where you can collaborate via topic-based networking spaces with group and 1:1 chat with other participants
  • A sponsor solutions showcase where you can speak directly with the sponsors, view demos, download resources, and view job openings
  • Games! Earn points and win prizes by attending sessions, visiting sponsor booths, and answering trivia questions
  • No missing out! The event platform will be accessible 24 hours a day to all registered attendees

What is the cost for the virtual event and how do I register?

Registration is US $10 from Tuesday, February 2 through Sunday, February 14. The ticket cost will increase to US $75 at 12:00 AM CEST on Monday, February 15 and remain at that price point through the event. We are offering a Keynote + Solutions Showcase Only pass at no cost, but it does not allow access to breakout sessions or in-platform networking. Register now!

What is the time zone for the event?

Live content will begin daily at 10:00 Central European Summer Time (CEST) with content over four consecutive days. The schedule is automatically displayed in CEST. To see the schedule in your preferred time zone, select the time zone from the drop-down menu to the right, above “Filter by Date.”

Will the content be different in an online setting?

No! The content you’ve come to know and love from KubeCon + CloudNativeCon remains unchanged and is included in the virtual event for All Access pass holders. While some of our onsite experiences aside from content can’t be replicated online, we’re working to put together alternate experiences that can, which will help provide attendees a fully immersive event experience. Stay tuned for more details!

How will the virtual sessions work?

Sessions will take place at scheduled times just as they would at a face-to-face event. Speakers will be available for live Q+A with conference sessions and tutorials. Attendees can build a personalized agenda of sessions they want to view and receive notifications before they start. And of course, all sessions will be recorded and available to attendees on-demand after the event.

Will the event include closed captioning?

Yes! Open captioning will be available for keynotes while closed captioning will be available for each breakout session when it “goes live.” Learn more.

Will all sessions be recorded?

Yes! Once the event ends, All Access attendees will be able to view sessions and other content in the event platform for 45 days. Additionally, all recorded sessions will be uploaded to the CNCF YouTube channel within two weeks of the event so they are accessible to anyone, anywhere.

I attend KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe mainly for networking. How is that possible in a virtual setting?

We know how invaluable face-to-face networking is at events and we chose a virtual event platform that we felt most closely replicated the real-world capabilities for attendee networking at an event. Attendees will be able to connect with speakers, sponsors, and experts through networking lounges, join ‘hallway track’ discussions with other attendees in group chats, and engage in 1:1 chats with other event attendees.

How will the Event Code of Conduct be enforced in a virtual environment?

All participants must abide by the CNCF Code of Conduct (CoC) in a virtual environment just as they would at a physical one. We will be monitoring language and images throughout the platform to ensure there are no violations of the CoC, and quickly handle any that we might find. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns relating to harassment, please contact a member of the conference staff immediately:
