We’ve received a lot of great feedback from the community regarding the need for a transparent process to request a CNCF-hosted co-located event. We heard you and are thrilled to share the 2023 CNCF-hosted co-located events proposal process.

We are currently accepting event proposals for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America & Open Source Summit Europe now through May 15, 2023. The proposal window for CNCF-hosted Co-located Events at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe & Open Source Summit North America 2023 is closed.
*Space for approved co-located events will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
To submit the CNCF-hosted co-located events proposal form, you will need to provide the following information. Incomplete proposals will not be considered.
NOTE: Completion of this form does not guarantee the co-located event will be accepted.
FAQ – Registration
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon CNCF-hosted co-located events will now take place on a single day. The new “In Person All Access Pass” will provide attendees with the option to attend any co-located event they would like.
When will registration be open, and how much will it cost?
The In-Person All-Access pass, which includes access to all CNCF-hosted co-located events, is sold out & no longer available and the waitlist has been closed for this pass type. If you’re currently on the waitlist, you will receive an email notification regarding the status by Thursday, April 6.
Can I view any of the CNCF-hosted co-located events virtually?
The KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe virtual pass is still available. With this pass, you get all the fantastic content you’ve come to expect from KubeCon + CloudNativeCon but from the comfort of your own home! *Observability Day + CiliumCon will be available via live stream on the virtual platform, all other co-located events recordings will be available 24-72 hours post-event on the CNCF YouTube channel.
Is registration space limited?

How do I add myself to the waitlist for CNCF-hosted co-located events?

CNCF-hosted co-located events did not sell out last KubeCon + CloudNativeCon – why are they selling out now?
Prior to the pandemic, CNCF-hosted co-located events would consistently sell out. As many individuals return to attending events in person, they are finding great value in the content, collaboration opportunities, and networking available during co-located events.
What happens if my registration in CNCF-hosted co-located events and I cancel my registration?
If you have an All-Access pass or have added CNCF-hosted co-located events to your registration and need to cancel, please note that you will lose access to CNCF-hosted co-located events. Once you cancel, your spot will be offered to someone on the waitlist.
If you decide to reinstate your registration at a later time, you will need to add yourself to the waitlist for CNCF-hosted co-located events.
How would I have known the CNCF-hosted co-located events would sell out?

I’m a co-located event speaker, sponsor or program committee member and haven’t registered yet – am I still able to register?
CNCF-hosted co-located event speakers, program committee members, and sponsors of a CNCF-hosted co-located event*, will continue to have access to their respective co-located event.
*This exception does not apply to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon ONLY sponsors who are adding Tuesday, 18 April co-located events to their registration.
If I’m accepted as a co-located event speaker – do I also have to purchase registration for KubeCon + CloudNativeCon?
No, all accepted co-located event speakers will be provided with an “All-Access” Registration for Tuesday, April 18 – Friday, April 21 co-located events and KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe programming.
Will there be a registration option to only attend Tuesday, 18 April co-located events and not KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe on April 19 – 21?
There is NOT a Tuesday, Co-located Event Only pass available.
What is the registration pricing for co-located events at Open Source Summit North America and Open Source Summit Europe?
Registration pricing will be determined after the CNCF-Hosted Co-Located Event proposal is approved.

When does the proposal form close?

If a co-located event has been hosted by CNCF before – do I need to submit a proposal?
Yes, a proposal must be completed for each co-located event, even if it has been hosted by CNCF before.
I don’t have all the required details to submit the proposal form – what should I do?
Please provide as much detail as you can and provide a timeline for when you will be able to provide more information. Noting, incomplete proposals without a timeline for sharing more details will not be reviewed.
How and when will I know if our proposal is accepted?
Co-located events proposals will be reviewed and notified on a rolling basis, now through early June.
How many co-located events will take place at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe and North America?
Estimated: 10-14 CNCF-hosted Co-located events at each KubeCon + CloudNativeCon.
FAQ – Program Committees
What is a Program Committee?
The event program committees (PC) are comprised of subject-matter experts that drive the content for the event. Program committees should represent the diversity of our full community. Program Committees must include at least one non-male participant, and a company cannot have more than (2) representatives.
Co-located Event Program Committee Members will be held to the same guidelines as the KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Chairs & Program Committee.
What are the roles and responsibilities of the Program Committee?

FAQ – Co-located Event Content
Will co-located events be live-streamed?
No, session recordings will be available 24-72 hours post-event.
Will virtual speakers be accepted?
Accepted co-located event speakers will be able to submit pre-recorded talks if they are not able to participate in person. Pre-recorded talks must be submitted 3-4 weeks prior to the event.
When can I submit a Proposal (CFP) for a KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe co-located event?
CFPs will launch on a rolling basis as proposals are accepted, however, all CFPs will be open by Friday, 13 January 2023.
What content and/or topic areas are anticipated to be covered in 2023?

FAQ – Sponsorship
Why are sponsors required to launch a CNCF-Hosted Co-located Event?
Community partners ensure that co-located events are financially sustainable. Sponsor support helps cover event hard costs, aids in consistent attendee registration fees year to year, and provides opportunities for sponsor companies to engage as a thought-leader in the community.
If I submit the proposal form, am I responsible for selling sponsorships?
No, community members/maintainers that submitted the proposal for the co-located event are not responsible for selling sponsorships. However, to ensure the event’s success, community members and/or maintainers that submitted the proposal are strongly encouraged to provide “warm leads” (i.e. introductions to qualified prospective sponsors) to support the sponsor sales process. Event staff are happy to work alongside the community to ensure we are targeting the correct folks to support the event’s success.
