Capture The Flag Experience
Wednesday, November 8 | 10:45 AM – 5:25 PM
Location: Room W470ab
The Capture The Flag (CTF) experience runs concurrently to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2023!
Delve deeper into the dark and mysterious world of Cloud Native security! Exploit a supply chain attack and start your journey deep inside the target infrastructure, utilize your position to hunt and collect the flags, and hopefully learn something new and wryly amusing along the way!
Attendees can play three increasingly treacherous and demanding scenarios to bushwhack their way through the dense jungle of Cloud Native security. Everybody is welcome, from beginner to seasoned veterans, as we venture amongst the low-hanging fruits of insecure configuration and scale the lofty peaks of cluster compromise!

Security Hub
Tuesday, November 7 – Thursday, November 9
Are you disappointed there won’t be a 0-day event for Security? Don’t be! Instead, come check out the Security Hub located inside KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America throughout the conference (opposite the main presentation hall, upstairs).
The Security Hub will be a dedicated space for attendees to learn, share, and collaborate about the latest security practices and tools in the Kubernetes and cloud-native ecosystem. Discover a range of security-related topics, from securing software supply chains to implementing zero-trust security, managing security for cloud-native infrastructure and applications, or building a security-first culture.
You can pre-submit your unconference talks here (link will be shared soon!).
Additionally, CNCF STAG (Security Technical Advisory Group) leads will be available to answer your cloud native security questions on demand via slack (#tag-security) or in-person. Industry experts, practitioners, and YOU will be able to share your insights and continue your conversations post KubeCon sessions at Security Hub informal spaces.
Help us make the Security Hub an inclusive and engaging destination for anyone interested in securing their cloud-native journey.

Film Screening: eBPF: Unlocking the Kernel
Wednesday, November 8 | 6:15 – 7:00 PM
Location: Room W181
In 2014, a group of engineers at Plumgrid needed to find an innovative and cost-effective solution to handle network traffic in SDN environments. What they created was a landmark in the industry known as the extended Berkeley Packet Filter (or eBPF). This vital technology allows user-level code execution inside the Linux Kernel, transforming network traffic handling for SDN environments. Whether these engineers knew it or not, they had just revolutionized the Linux Kernel. We go in-depth to explore the origins of eBPF and showcase the stories, challenges, and rewards of this game-changing technology. In the documentary film, we interviewed key stakeholders from Meta, Intel, Isovalent, Google, Red Hat, and Netflix who helped shape and build the tools that drove the success and adoption of eBPF. Join us for this premiere screening of why eBPF is seen as one of the most promising, emerging applications and cutting-edge technologies in the Linux ecosystem.
