What is the format of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2023 and when will it take place?
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2023 is a hybrid event that will take place in person with a virtual component from November 6-9, with November 6 consisting of pre-event programming and November 7-9 being the main conference. The event will deliver in person AND online content over four days, including keynotes, conference sessions across 10+ tracks, tutorials, and networking options. CNCF-hosted co-located events, which can be attended in person by purchasing an All-Access ticket, will take place on Monday, November 6.
What is a hybrid event?
Our hybrid event takes place in person with a virtual component for those that cannot attend in person. The virtual component consists of the ability to watch all keynote and breakout sessions live or on-demand. Note that the virtual component does not include access to CNCF-hosted co-located events or access to event sponsors.
Did the format for co-located events change?
While some things about the CNCF-hosted co-located events will remain the same, the way that you register and attend the events has been updated! KubeCon + CloudNativeCon CNCF-hosted co-located events will now take place on a single day. The “In-Person All-Access Pass” provides attendees with the option to attend any CNCF-hosted co-located event they would like on that day. For more details on these events, review the various FAQs.
What is the value of participating in this event?
We believe everyone will find value in joining us for the high-quality content that is expected from a KubeCon + CloudNativeCon event. Our open source communities inspire us to be resilient – to adapt and thrive with speed and consideration, immersed in the goal of bringing together a distributed group of people from around the globe. It’s in the DNA of the open source community to connect, learn and collaborate, therefore, what better place to do so than one of the premier open source developer conferences in the world?
Do I have to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a negative COVID-19 test to attend the event in person?
No. There will be no proof of vaccination or negative test results required to attend the event. All attendees will need to comply with our onsite health measures in accordance with our Code of Conduct. Read more about our Health + Safety guidelines.
What is the cost for the event and how do I register?
There are registration options fit for all!
For in-person attendees, there are two ticket-type options – All-Access which includes CNCF-hosted co-located events on Monday, November 6, and KubeCon + CloudNativeCon ONLY – as well as early bird, standard, late, and onsite pricing tiers for each.
For virtual attendees, there are two pricing tiers – if registered before July 6 the ticket is only $10 and registration from July 6 through the event is $75.
We are also offering an option to virtually watch the keynotes at no cost, but it does not allow access to breakout sessions or the ability to register for co-located events.
What is the time zone for the event?
Live content will begin daily at 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM Central Standard Time (CST) with content over four consecutive days. The online schedule will automatically display in CST. To see the schedule in your preferred time zone, select the time zone from the drop-down menu to the right, above “Filter by Date.”
Will you have vegan / gluten-free / dairy-free / Kosher / Halal, etc. meals available onsite?
We account for a portion of attendees that need vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals – these are typically readily available at all snack breaks, lunches, and receptions. No special order is required and you can indicate your preference/need during registration.
For those that need a special order meal like Kosher or Halal, we do ask that you email us at email@example.com so that we may place these orders in advance of the event. Most catering companies are unable to prepare/order these types of meals on the day they are needed as they are made in offsite kitchens.
Note that we are also a nut-free event. If you have another severe food allergy, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your need(s).
What safety measures will be taken onsite for in-person attendees?
Review our Health + Safety guidelines for current information.
What are the system requirements needed to participate in the virtual event?
We are using Stova (formerly MeetingPlay), a web-based event platform. You do not need to download any application to participate. Stova recommends connecting to the event using the Chrome browser from an internet-enabled desktop or laptop. While you can access the event from a phone or tablet for brief viewing, it is not recommended for full functionality and experience.
Will the content be different in an online setting?
The educational content (primarily keynotes and breakout sessions) you’ve come to know and love from KubeCon + CloudNativeCon remains unchanged between an in-person and virtual pass. Virtual attendees will not have access to event sponsors.
How will the virtual sessions work?
Keynote and breakout sessions will take place at the same scheduled times as the in-person event. Attendees can build a personalized agenda of sessions they want to view and receive notifications before they start. All sessions will be recorded and available to attendees on-demand after the event.
How do I join the live streamed sessions?
All in-person attendees and full virtual pass holders will receive an email on the morning of November 6 with their login details for the platform. Once logged in, you can use the left navigation bar to find keynote and breakout sessions.
Virtual keynote ONLY pass holders do not receive access to the full event platform and will instead receive a separate email with details for logging in to watch the keynote livestream.
Will the event include captioning?
Yes! Captioning will be available for keynotes and breakout sessions. Learn more.
Will all sessions be recorded?
Yes! Once the event ends, in-person and virtual attendees will be able to view sessions and other content in the event platform for 30 days. Additionally, all sessions will be uploaded to the CNCF YouTube channel within two weeks of the event so they are accessible to anyone, anywhere.
How will the event Code of Conduct be enforced in a virtual environment?
All participants must abide by the CNCF Code of Conduct in a virtual environment just as they will be expected to in person. We will be monitoring language and images throughout the platform to ensure there are no violations of the Code of Conduct and quickly handle any that we might find. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns relating to harassment, please contact Joanna Lee (Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Legal) and Angela Brown (SVP & GM of Events) immediately at email@example.com or at (408) 686-9393.
Do you have any volunteer opportunities available?
Thank you for your interest in attending and volunteering at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon. We do not have any volunteer positions available, however, we encourage you to apply for a scholarship. Anyone may apply for the in-person diversity or need-based scholarships. In addition, we offer an academic rate for current full-time students and faculty members.
Can I bring my child with me to my session?
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon is a professional conference. If you’d like to bring your child to a session or two for a special reason (e.g. family/friend is speaking, interest in the subject) we will allow an exception but we ask for respect of the other attendees and their onsite experience. If needed, we do offer onsite child care. Please note that you must sign your child up in advance and sign-ups do close approximately one month in advance of the event.

The all-access pass type includes access to all CNCF-hosted co-located events taking place on Monday, November 6 as well as the full three days of the main event, including keynotes, breakouts, and the solutions showcase. There is no need to register for or select a specific co-located event in advance.

What is the difference between the Corporate / Individual / Academic pass types?
The “corporate” registration type is for attendees whose company is paying for in-person attendance to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon. This includes for-profit companies and government employees. You will help keep the conference affordable for everyone, especially students and those needing financial aid.
The “individual” registration type is solely for registrants who are currently not working for a company, work for a non-profit, or are attending in person at their own expense (i.e. not funded by a company).
