What is the format of KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021 and when will it take place?
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021 is a hybrid event that will take place in person with a virtual component from October 11-15, with pre-event programming on October 11-12 and the main conference on October 13-15. The event will deliver in-person AND online content over five days, including keynotes, conference sessions across 10+ tracks, tutorials, sponsor booths, and networking options. Co-located events, which can be added to in-person or virtual all-access passes at an additional cost, will take place on Monday, October 11 and Tuesday, October 12.
What is a hybrid event and how can I attend?
Our hybrid event is an in-person event with a virtual component for those that cannot attend in person. We will take all necessary precautions to ensure the safety of those who attend the event in person.
In-person passes include access to all keynotes and breakout sessions, the Solutions Showcase, and conference activities. All in-person registrations also receive virtual event platform access.
Virtual all-access passes include access to the online event experience only.

What is the value of participating in this event?

Do I have to be vaccinated to attend the event in person?
Yes. In-person attendees will be required to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus and will need to comply with all on-site health measures, in accordance with our Code of Conduct. Fully vaccinated is defined as being two weeks out from receiving the final dose of a government-approved vaccine. Anyone who is not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to participate in the event virtually. Read more about our Health + Safety Guidelines.
Will the event pivot to fully virtual if the COVID-19 situation gets worse?
Because all event participants are required to be vaccinated and wear masks, we do not foresee any type of closure of the in-person portion of the event being necessary. We would only pivot to a fully virtual event if mandated by the local, state, or federal government or the venue. If this were to happen, we would notify all registered participants immediately.
What is the time zone for the event?
Live content will begin daily at 8:00 AM or 9:00 AM Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) with content over five consecutive days. The online schedule will automatically display in PDT. To see the schedule in your preferred time zone, select the time zone from the drop-down menu to the right, above “Filter by Date.”
What safety measures will be taken onsite for in-person attendees?
We are working with the venue and local municipalities to provide safety measures to keep everyone healthy. Review our evolving Health + Safety Guidelines for current information.
Will the content be different in an online setting?
The educational content (primarily keynotes and breakout sessions) you’ve come to know and love from KubeCon + CloudNativeCon remains unchanged between an in-person and virtual all-access pass. While some of our onsite experiences aside from content can’t be replicated online, we’re working to put together alternate experiences that can, which will help provide attendees a great event experience. Will the event include captioning?
Yes! Captioning will be available for keynotes and breakout sessions. Learn more.
Will all sessions be recorded?
Yes! Once the event ends, in-person and virtual all-access attendees will be able to view sessions and other content in the event platform for 45 days. Additionally, all sessions will be uploaded to the CNCF YouTube channel within two weeks of the event so they are accessible to anyone, anywhere.
How will I receive my Linux Foundation Training Discount?
When can I redeem my Linux Foundation Training Discount once I receive the coupon code via email?
Once you have received your coupon code it must be used by 11:59 PDT on Monday, October 18, 2021 and is only for a one-time purchase. After purchasing a training product, you will have up to one year from the purchase date to redeem it.
Can I combine my Linux Foundation Training Discount with any other products or have it applied to a purchase made prior to KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021?
Are co-located events included in the price of my registration?
No. Neither the In-person nor Virtual All-Access pass type includes registration for any of the co-located events, but they do give you the ability to add one to your registration at an additional cost. Co-located events are not accessible to those with a Virtual Keynote + Solutions Showcase Only pass.
With an In-person or Virtual All Access pass you can add a co-located event during the registration process and pay the additional fee. If you are already registered and did not select any co-located events, you can sign in to your registration using your confirmation number to add one. You can find your confirmation number in your confirmation email or by clicking on the Cvent login page requesting to have your confirmation number emailed to you.
If I cannot attend the event, can I substitute someone from my company to attend in my place?
In-person passes are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, please sign in to your registration using your confirmation number and cancel your registration.
Virtual all-access passes are transferable to another person at your company if you are unable to attend. If you need to modify, substitute, or cancel your virtual all-access registration, sign in to your registration using your confirmation number. You can find your confirmation number in your confirmation email or by clicking on the Cvent login page requesting to have your confirmation number emailed to you.
I’d like to attend the event but can’t afford an In-person or Virtual All-Access pass. Do you offer any assistance?
Yes! The Cloud Native Computing Foundation is proud to offer both diversity and need-based scholarships for both In-person and Virtual All-Access pass types. Applications must be submitted by Sunday, August 8 at 11:59 PM PDT for in-person and Friday, October 1 at 11:59 PM PDT for virtual. Learn more.
If I purchased one type of event pass, can I upgrade to another type?
Yes, you can upgrade your pass type up to the first day of the event. Simply sign in to your registration using your confirmation number and “unregister” as that pass type. Then re-register for the pass you would like and make your payment. You can find your confirmation number in your confirmation email or by clicking on the Cvent login page requesting to have your confirmation number emailed to you.

Diversity + Inclusion
Will there be a nursing room at the conference?
Yes. For location information, please check with registration or information desk staff onsite. If you need a refrigerator, please email email@example.com prior to the conference to make arrangements.
Will child care be provided?
Due to local COVID restrictions, we, unfortunately, cannot offer child care services at this event. We can, however, provide a list of local childcare providers. We apologize for this disruption to our normal event plans. We will be making this service available as soon as we can for future events.
What is the policy on animals at the event?
Service animals are permitted.
Is the venue ADA accessible?

Will food and beverages be served? What will food service look like at the event?
Food and beverages will be available throughout the event; however, they may look different than previous years as we adhere to new safety measures set and/or recommended by the venue, local municipalities, and the CDC.

What meals are provided with my conference registration?
Lunch, morning breaks, and afternoon breaks are included with in-person registration. Beer, wine, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks will be available at evening receptions.
I have a dietary restriction – who should I contact?
In the registration form, you will be able to indicate a dietary restriction or need. You may also email email@example.com and reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate.
What are the discounted room rates for attendees? Is there a deadline to make a reservation?

I am having an issue booking my reservation at the conference hotel(s). Is there someone at the Linux Foundation that can help?
If the hotel reservation cut-off date has not passed, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org and a member of our team will be in touch shortly. Please note, rooms will most likely sell out in advance of the room block close dates listed. We encourage you to book early to secure a room at the conference rate. What is the cost for the virtual event and how do I register?
There are registration options fit for all! For in-person attendees, there are several price points based on your work situation as well as early bird, standard, late, and onsite pricing.
We are also offering a Keynote + Solutions Showcase Only virtual pass at no cost, but it does not allow access to breakout sessions or the ability to register for co-located events. Register now!
How will the virtual sessions work?
Keynote and breakout sessions will take place at the same scheduled times as the in-person event. Speakers will be available for live Q+A for breakout sessions. Attendees can build a personalized agenda of sessions they want to view and receive notifications before they start. And of course, all sessions will be recorded and available to attendees on-demand after the event.
What are the system requirements needed to participate in the virtual event?
We are using MeetingPlay, a web-based event platform. You do not need to download any application to participate. MeetingPlay recommends connecting to the event using the Chrome browser from an internet-enabled desktop or laptop. While you can access the event from a phone or tablet for brief viewing, it is not recommended for full functionality and experience.
I attend mainly for networking. How is that possible in a virtual event?
We know how invaluable face-to-face networking is at events and we purposefully chose a virtual event platform that we felt most closely replicated the real world capabilities for attendee networking at an event. You will be able to connect with speakers, sponsors, and experts through networking lounges, join group “hallway track” discussions with other attendees in group chats, and engage in 1:1 chats with other event attendees.
How will the Event Code of Conduct be enforced in a virtual environment?
All participants must abide by the CNCF Code of Conduct (CoC) in a virtual environment just as they will be expected to in person. We will be monitoring language and images throughout the platform to ensure there are no violations of the CoC, and quickly handle any that we might find.
